Scale Computing will attend this year’s International Chemical & Product Tanker Conference, April 25th - 26th at the Thistle Marble Arch in London. Johan Pelican, VP of Sales, EMEA, will be speaking at the conference as part of Session Two, “The Regulatory Horizon for Product and Chemical Tanker Ship Managers, Vessel Owners and Charterers.” His presentation, ”Managing Applications Beyond the Datacenter: Edge Computing for the Maritime Industry,” will be featured as part of the conference’s new Lightning Talks series highlighting innovative technology solutions for chemical and product tankers.
Pelican’s talk will focus on Scale Computing’s success with Northern Marine Group, a full spectrum ship management and marine services provider. Northern Marine was seeking a secure and easy to manage solution with self-healing, automated IT infrastructure for its applications to optimize operations for its global fleet. With highly intermittent internet connectivity and no IT personnel onboard, the company chose to deploy Scale Computing HyperCore clusters to run their operations smoothly while at sea. By consolidating the three separate systems that manage storage, compute, and network into a single, highly available hyperconverged system, HyperCore Edge provides integrated server virtualization, disaster recovery tools, and management capabilities into an easy-to-manage system that can remain operational in even the most extreme and demanding environments. SC//HyperCore cluster enabled Northern Marine to achieve consistent application availability, simplified management, and secure applications across its fleet. They were able to free their operations team from the complexity and costs of traditional IT, allowing them to focus their attention on core business needs.
The International Chemical & Product Tanker Shipping and Trade Conference is focused on the latest developments and trends in chemical and product tanker shipping and trade. The two-day event features expert speakers, interactive panel discussions, and industry networking opportunities for vessel operators, charterers, regulators, class, industry associations, maritime services, and the supply chain. Attendees gather to benchmark industry knowledge, network, and do business in all of the aspects that enable safe, efficient, and sustainable chemical and product tanker operations.
Johan Pelican’s presentation, “Managing Applications Beyond the Datacenter: Edge Computing for the Maritime Industry,” will take place on Tuesday, April 25th at 12:50pm. Delegates will have the opportunity to follow up with presenters directly at their stands following the presentations.
